The Hillbark Hotel had a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The spacious room was lovely but faced some minor issues, like a broken TV and slow breakfast service. The dining experience in the intimate restaurant was impressive, highlighting talented chefs and serene music.

magnificent house in a superb location.
Breakfast service was extremely slow and porridge and eggs benedict were served at the same time. This surely was a very basic error of service. Bed was not "turned down" on the second night.

As it was our wedding night, the hotel upgraded us to the most magnificent room; huge, four poster bed, jacuzzi bath, spectacular view. The staff were wonderful, couldn't have been more helpful. A truly magical night, can't wait to return for our anniversary.

Elegant, Elegant, Elegant
Dining in the wine cellar was an absolute dream, surrounded by an excellent collection of wines and serenaded by live piano music. The indulgent spa treatments left me feeling rejuvenated and pampered, an absolute must-try! Strolling through the beautifully landscaped gardens was like stepping into a fairytale, perfect for those Insta-worthy moments!
100% recommend 🥂❤️

Cuisine excellent, albeit costly. Staff very friendly and attentive. Building was stunning - black and white timberframe. Bedroom large and luxurious. Bathroom beautiful and bath big enough for six!
Bedroom was at the end of a wing and was cold as was the bathroom especially the tiled floor. It took between 5 and ten minutes for the water to get warm. The piped music in all the reception and dining rooms was relentless, sort of Las Vegas showtime - dire!

Very spacious, luxurious hotel, with fantastic food and service. Would love to go again but stay longer this time. It was just before Christmas and the decorations were wonderful.

Really good Staff and Beautiful Gardens
The restaurant in the cellar provided a unique dining experience with really good culinary delights, elevating my stay. The staff were particularly fantastic. If anything could be improved, it would be the speed of service during breakfast, which could be a bit slow.

Nice hotel,food and location.
Nice hotel,in lovely surroundings. Food was very good and front of house staff good. However the hotel was completely let down by inexperienced and rude bar staff. The attitude of this hotel seems to be charge you the price of a top quality hotel but clear you out as quickly as possible. We had an issue during the evening and asked to see the duty manager,he relayed messages through the member of staff we had a problem with instead of seeing us.Another member of staff later told us he was embarrassed by the way we were treated. Hill bark your only as good as the staff you employ!

The hotel itself is very beautiful with mock tudor design. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much effort. Food excellent, modern facilities, nice big rooms. Lots of nice little extra touches of luxury such as complimentary handmade chocolates in an edible chocolate box on arrival and complimentary.tray of fresh fruit. Complimentary tea and biscuits to order. Lovely bathrobes and fresh white towels. we were very impressed.
I'm not sure if the staff forgot on this occasion, but toiletries in the bathroom would be a nice touch. Otherwise, we can't fault. This was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.

knowing we paid far less thru Booked.net rather than direct to hotel. £185-00 less!
having to order coffee via room service - none in room. bathrobes but no slippers and bathroom floor really cold underfoot. cold/bland atmosphere throughout the hotel. lacks charm & character & lighting. imposing head waiter.. inappropriate prints/pictures on display. very cold red wine served with dinner & incorrectly served into small glasses. not convinced if room was a suite as per booking.

missingWrote a review on 21 Augdisappointing breakfast
The breakfast experience left much to be desired, with poorly prepared dishes and a very limited selection that didn't meet the expectations one would associate with a five-star destination. There were also significant delays in service, particularly during peak dining hours, leaving us waiting far too long for our meals-a bit frustrating after anticipating a relaxing night away. The so-called spa lacks basic facilities, offering only treatment rooms without any pool or sauna, thus missing the mark for a true wellness getaway. This indicates a need for improvement in both dining quality and recreational amenities. I came looking for a luxe retreat, not just the pretty views.
